Technology Integration

SMART Boards - In every grade level and every interrelated classroom we have SMART Board technology.

Research has shown that interactive whiteboards, like the
SMART Board, benefit student engagement, learner motivation, and greater retention of the knowledge they obtain while using the SMART Board. This technology has also been found to be successful in reaching students with a variety of learning styles, and students with special needs throughout the country as well as at our school.

There are Educator benefits as well. Our staff has experienced greater student involvement, more efficient lesson preparation, and enhanced lessons and learning materials.

We recently applied for and achieved a spot for one of our teachers to become a Master Teacher on SMART Boards for the entire district.

Rebecca McIntyre is one of 14 SMART Board Master Teachers for the USD259 district.

Clickers - At this time we have one set of clickers in the building. We are currently writing grants to obtain additional sets. Some advantages to using clickers in the classroom include:
  • Since each student can be assigned a particular clicker, teachers can monitor learning on an individual or group basis.
  • Questions can be connected to standards, allowing teachers to monitor student and class progress on these standards as they progress through the year.
  • Responses are graded automatically, eliminating teacher workload.
  • The technology encourages every student to respond to every question, increasing class participation.
  • The technology motivates students to learn. It is fun!
  • Teachers can generate multiple reports to show student progress to principals and parents. Click here for additional clicker information on the district website.

We also applied for and achieved a spot for one of our teachers to become a Master Teacher on Clickers for the entire district.

Amanda Ricketts is one of 14 Clicker Master Teachers for the USD259 district.
