How to Create a basic Webquest

  1. Open a new Word document
  2. Insert a Table with 2 columns and 5 rows.
         Click on >Table >Insert >Table, and a box will pop up so you can type in columns and rows.
  3. Highlight the top row of the table, right click inside the cell and a pull down menu will appear.
  4. Select "merge cells".
  5. Type your title  (Animal Life Cycles)
  6. The left columns, will be for you to type directions or information you want to know such as "Life cycles of…)
  7. In the right column you can add pictures that might go with your subject.
  8. Save this document. Go to >File >Save As, and name your document.
         Remember the format: Teacher Name and Your first name. ex. mcintyreRebecca
  9. Leave this document open.
  10. Go to the bottom of this page to see an example.

Step 2

  1. Open the Internet. Go to >Start >Internet Explorer.
  2. Click on "Google Search."
  3. Search for your topic ex. “frog life cycle”, remember to use quotation marks to narrow your search.
  4. Open several links. When you find one or two you like highlight the URL (address box of website at top of page), and copy it by clicking on >Edit >Copy, or using the shortcut (control C).

Step 3

  1. Click back on the word document you just created, (click the tab at the bottom of the page with you document's name).
  2. Paste the URL on the right >Edit >Paste or use the shortcut (control V). Add information about your topic in the left column. Graphics can go on the left.

Step 4

  1. Now we will create a hyperlink to the website.
  2. Copy the URL of the site you saved. (If you saved more than one just do one at a time)
  3. Then highlight a picture, or words you want to hyper link, right click, paste the website into address box (control V), click okay.
  4. Remember to save your word document several times throughout this process.
  5. You will need to add at least three hyperlinks to text and to at least one picture to complete your Webquest. Heads Up! Be sure you have added everything you want to add before going on to the next step!

Step 5

  1. Now we are going to create your webpage.
  2. Go to >File >Save as, and type a different file name for your webpage. Use a different name so you can keep the word document in case you want to make changes later.
  3. Then click on the second pull down arrow "save as type" located directly below where you named your document.
  4. Select "Web Page" and "Save".
  5. Drop your finished project onto \\anderson1 Your are done! Great Job!
  6. Now it is time to return to the introduction. Click on the introduction button at the top of the this page.
